Hi Guys,

Just wanted to introduce myself to the forum. My ETS from the US ARMY was back in 1999. My last duty station was at Ft. Irwin in CA. Since then, I haven't had a lot of interest in Military vehicles.

The older I get, the more I reflect on the fond memories I had in the military and the guys that I served with. Last week I drove by TaylorTradingCo's place in Ringgold. GA. I stopped and stood there at the fence for a while looking at the trucks (It was after hours). I think sometime while I was standing there reminiscing, the bug bit me.

Out of all the vehicles that I was assigned while in the ARMY, the M109 shop van was my favorite. I've always had some Hot Rodder in my blood. After a minor fuel pressure modification to my 109 and my friends deuce we had fun getting out to the field location faster than anyone in our platoon.:) Our Lieutenant wasn't to happy about us flying by his Humvee at the front of the line, but he got over it!

Currently, I am doing my research on the M109!

Thanks Guys!
Chris

Hello from Ohio. I spent a lot of time in SW Georgia at Ft Benning and we were at Ft Irwin at least a half dozen times. I have such fond memories of the dust bowl.

Good to have you here.

Ohhh the Dust Bowl! 120 degrees, dry and dusty! I bet we would have plenty of good stories to tell each other sometime. Thumbs up for the fond memories!
The dust bowl!

Thanks for serving brother!

Welcome aboard from due south of the deep south. Shop van or not, you need to make the pilgrimage to Union Point in October. There will be shop vans there for sure.

You know it`s funny, when you are in:beer:
the the service you`r attitude is different than a few years later. The bad times didn`t seem so bad and the good times were better than thought at the time.Enjoy you`r memories and long live your youth!

Agreed, with a positive attitude in life you tend to remember the good over the bad. I think most of us had things we disliked while in the service. But in hind sight, the good memories far out weigh the bad.

Thank you sir!

Welcome-thanks for serving brother! My moms side of the family are all from Dalton/Rocky Face. Glad to see you got the OD bug! I've been to the dustbowl a couple of times, and will be back there for yet another rotation in September.

The internet makes for a small world. I would love to see some recent pics of the post and out in the field. Good luck on your rotation out there!

Thank you for serving brother!

Welcome to the Green Iron Laughing Accademy.:cookoo:

The only trip I made to NTC was with the unit I was in at Fort Benning, 608th Ordnance Company, we convoyed out there in M915's.

Since the drivers didn't have much to do we spent most of the time playing Hearts in the shade (still hotter that two rats farking in a wool sock).

Start getting ready for the GA Rally now......you never know what you'll see there.

Hello from Carrollton, GA. I'm a previous owner of a '46 CJ2. I dabble in M2 Browning replicas for military vehicles and man caves.

Don't worry, just SHOW UP, someplace to sleep can be found if needed (unless GIMP offers space), same with food, besides MIKE and the MKT, there is enough food to feed a army and the members WANT to share, so if you are hungry, it is your fault
