Do you get to own Swiss Military vehicles?
Yes, we are allowed to own military vehicles of the Swiss army under certain circumstances. But these are all disarmed.
In Switzerland, the situation with weapons is somewhat different than in the rest of Europe.
Here the military service is done in the first shift (basic course 6 months) in the barracks. Afterwards one goes to the age of approx. 35 years annually for approx. 2 months into the repetition course. This is always done in the same unit and in accordance with his training.
In this whole time one has his service weapon (assault rifle) always in the house. Together with the sealed ammunition.
There is also a mandatory shooting at least once a year. Here a certain number of points must be reached.
After that you can keep your weapon. But then converted to single shot.
Nevertheless, Switzerland is a country in which weapons are never openly carried and also otherwise a rather soft and liberal basic mood prevails.
There are many in Switzerland who own old Swiss Army trucks. But a HMMWV will probably never be officially street legal. I can use here a loophole in the law which refers to my place of residence.
So I would have the first HMWWV in Switzerland. Let's see!
And the Bricklin I have only seen one many years ago, so that is a rare car
indeed in the States. The Firebird is a nice car also. Only mine was a white 350 4 speed with black interior.
Thats my bricklin... No 430 with the 5.9 AMC
The Firebird is from '69 an and a convertable.
I bought this car during my 8 weeks in the US that I was there on vacation. Flew to NY, bought it and directly roadtripped 10'000 miles through the US. No destination and no plan... just go for it. Went to Sturgis for Bikeweek, Florida, Alabama, Texas and finally Bristol for the NASCAR Night Race.
Got stuck in the middle of it, got invited to drag racing and then left it in a St. Louis shop with a broken rocker arm. Now he is here with me in the workshop and gets instead of the worn carburetor a SniperEFI 2x4.
And sheet metal I also welded a good 2 panels in. Incredible what you think in the US at a "restoration".
On top of all that, I have a lot of other vehicles. And I don't really have time for any of them.
And if you are chasing women that is a good hobby to have. Do you prefer wine, beer or liquor- moonshine?
Proscht!
Hunting Women? No time for this any more... My wife and daughter keep me busy enough. I don't need another annoying "construction site".
I prefer beer.
And since you have two options as a German in Switzerland. Either you overcome the disgust that generates the Swiss beer or to brew myself I just brew my own beer. These are then together with friends also times so around the 2000l a year.
