Help with 6.2L heater hose couplers

Hi folks,

I am replacing the water pump on my M998 and can't find new couplers for the water pump. Autozone and Pep Boys don't stock the parts. Does anybody know what part number might cross reference with NAPA or online source for them? The old ones are frozen on the water pump and stripping.

I was able to use the truck for one day before the water pump crapped out on me and I finally have some time to swap it out.

thanks,
Ron

IF you are talking about the nipple for the heater hose that comes off of the water pump, you could just plug it with a galvanised or brall pipe plug. It is standard pipe thread and you can use brass fittings to make the elbow and nipple too. The large nipple for the short hose that leads up to the coolant crossover will probably be hard to find, except at a General Motors Dealer. You might be able to get the old one out of the old water pump by using a torch to head up the pump body before trying to remove the nipple.

For it is a Detroit Diesel engine, did you ask there for the nipples. I think that almost all the stuff around the water pump is something standard as I found out when I replaced the water pump on my 6.2 l Blazer some 10 years ago, even in Germany.

Hi Folks,

I took it to the shop today and before I had a chance to even start on it one of my guys actually viced up the water pump and cranked them off. He warmed the parts up with some MAPP gas and they came right off.

I appreciate the help gentlemen.

thanks,
Ron
