I've searched and looked through forums and tm's with not much luck. My friend bought a 1984 944A1 bat mobile and gave the the press-porta power with the stand that is in the left rear corner. Can someone tell me how it is used and what all parts that went with it. I looked on OTC and found some accessories.

Its a heavy duty coil compressor if that is what it is intended for. Its rated at 17.5 tons. The base and the other blue collar is cast metal. The blue collar that isn't attached to the pole has a y-35 cast on it with a design like Firestone tires has. I'm missing the bearing splitter I know for sure. I was just curious what it was intended for and how it was used, and also how many parts I'm missing so I can go dig through all the stuff that was cleaned out of the truck. I'm also supposed to get the lathe out of the truck.

ozark, I used to sell OTC back in the day (late 70s to early 00s). That press was designed for pressing bearings on and off of shafts, such as axles. Can't remember the model number right now but I can get the information Monday. Might even have a parts breakdown. Very nice unit. OTC discontinued it when they came out with the 1825 open throat press. The blue Y35 part puzzles me, as I don't believe that is a component of that press, could be mistaken though, it's been a long time. Commercially it was sold with or without a floor stand. I believe all of the Southwest batwing trucks and trailers have these, except mine, it was gone when I purchased it. If you have the TM for the 944, SGPRSMD or the SGPRSM, it will be in there. The 17.5 ton (4120) "power twin" ram mounts upside down on the upper bolster. Looks like you may be missing some parts. If you're interested in selling it, I may be interested.

I have one of these as well from a bat wing i tore apart. I was wondering how best to use it.
Usually used with bearing splitters or a v-throat flat press plate. If you don't have these, look on e-bay, or tool or shop auctions or Harbor Freight. Buying OTC new is pricey.

Here's what i've been able to locate. Except for the hydraulics, very few parts are still available.

Thanks 319. I was fortunate to get most of the pieces I am missing. I'm going to mount the pole to a heavy base to use in my shop.
