HMMWV Bridge Plate

Can someone help with a question regarding bridge plates on the M1026? Not sure if the relatively light weight of the vehicle and any towed load would require a plate. I've only seen a few with them and wanted to know if this might be standard or something that was optional or not even required. Mine is a unit conversion from 998 and I'd like to make it period correct for an 80's or early 90's vehicle...

Hi,

I'm not sure where I should mount the bridge plate on the humvee. Saw some pictures where it was mounted at the bumper or like at the picture. Which version is correct or does it not matter?

Best regards
