HMMWV Interior Options (Console, seats ?)

Hi All,

My HMMWV is set to arrive in a few days and I was wondering what recommendations for a console you all may have or have used. I would like something that has cup holders - a radio would be nice but sounds like it could be a pain to setup. Do we have any drop in seat options available now ?

Although I am a relative newbie, I will chime in with my experience.

For seats, there are tons of options. You can get inexpensive jeep seats brand new for a a little over $100 each with careful shopping. Generally these are not reclining and do not include a sliding base. You have to build brackets to mount them. I have also seen folks hitting the junk yards and getting very fancy luxury seats from things like Ford Explorers and then you can hook up the electronics and get electric heated, reclining, motorized ones for a couple hundred each in leather. Finding four alike is difficult, but a set of two do show up.

For consoles, the biggest thing is to make sure it is easy to get your dog house opened! I kind of built my own out of MDF and then wrapped it in pleather built around the radio tray I have. Yep, it is a PITA to get the dog house opened so make sure you design it with that in mind. I have seen some professionally made up consoles for the Hummer but those were priced in blood.

Seems to be the case for most aftermarket stuff (priced in blood) for these vehicles. Can the dog house slide off to the side once its unhooked or does it require that it comes straight out from front to back ? I'll look at some Jeep sheets - looks like i am going to have to get more handy with sheet metal. I've built plenty of Sub boxes back in my high school days (25+ years ago) so I am not worried about that. Was thinking of building in some speaker mounts and a double din + couple holders. Wanted to see some other consoles to get some ideas.

Thanks

I went heater corbeau seats and American machine dash. Nothing beats heated seats. Home made solutions look like trash.

I'm building something like the below for just this purpose. Need to finish it but have all the parts. Mine has a 5x7 speaker at the ends. A bin in the middle to hold my aviation intercom headphones along with a Bluetooth turner and a number of USB ports.

I have the radio shelf that I removed the bottom shelf from, I then bolted a cheap "safe"/lockbox to the underside for semi-secure storage. On the top, I flanked the sides with small .50 ammo boxes with mesh netting at the front to keep the "inbetween" section as a small console area for miscellaneous items. On the floor, in front of the lock box, I made a simple MDF tray and cup holder piece, it also mounts a mid 1990s Nissan armrest/console to lean on. Took about $50 and a few hours to bang out the console, including skim coat and paint. It won't last forever, but it works for now and looks good enough. I'll post pics when I get home, but I'm 4,200 miles away from the old gal right now.

What are those door panel covers? I'd love to get a set for my rig. Thanks!
