HMMWV rim modifications

We have all seen many recentered H1/HMMWV rims, but has anyone tried to make them wider?

I am wondering about either using a second rear portion instead of the front half,or a "c-channel" style of (variable width) insert that goes between the existing parts with another o-ring and a wider PVC beadlock...

Seems that if done properly they would be safe - and knowing the extent of battlefield mods that get tried (kind of a Darwinian approach to vehicle design) someone must have tried the first option somewhere in an attempt to be able to mount high floatation tires...

To keep the beadlocks, you'll have to have new PVC pipe beadlocks made.

Why do you need them wider?

I think he answered that in the last sentence, As far as clamping a spacer in there.....no way. If it where my choice i would add a weld in spacer ring in the smaller half therefore makeing the offset more centered

Trailworthy Fab now can make 14" wide H1's with various backspacing...
