Just wondering what the 2 latches on top of the hood were used for a a 939 truck. Im sure they held different things on but if someone a a pic or 2 of what was there id like to see them.

Partially so you can do what those Marines are doing, and partially so you can lower the overall height of the truck for shipment. That's also why there are joints in the intake and exhaust pipes at about the same level. It looks like the mushroom is on the lowered air intake behind the driver, but hard to tell in the picture.

Cheers

PS- Ha! Bhpdbrad and I were posting at the same time!

I doubt i will ever fold them down and the fact that the windshield pivots out is like having ac for me. Id end up eating too many bugs driving with it folded down.

Keep in mind you may eat almost as many with windows open! I've heard of a bird getting sucked under a open windshield. I always taught my drivers to keep them closed, eat a bird or be a little warm? :-D

Well thanks for all the info. I stood there with a cold one in my hands for a long time wondering what those were all about.
These trucks are like a Swiss Army knife of rolling stock. Find a hard copy of the operators manual, you will be amazed
what you will learn.
