I had a friend I met hunting named Greg Garcia.... He was in the 7th Calvary in Vietnam (Hal Moore's outfit). He had 5 bronze stars, one silver star and a purple heart. When I asked him if they honored him for that, he replied," Honor? heck I was just doing my job !!".
To honor him, under the pretext of fixing his brakes, I surprised him by painting his Jeep and stenciling it. Many of the stencils I cut by hand. When he came to pick it up he was surprised and had tears in his eyes.
Sadly, Greg passed 18 months later due to small cell lung cancer due to agent orange.
I miss him everyday
