There was an article in the "Military Vehicle Magazine" a year or so ago, that covered it if I remember. It talked about the whole rebuilt of them in Okinawa during the Viet war. Man what an operation. Lots and lots of parts to choose from there. But at govt. contract, betting it wasn't much over 6 grand. They paid a whole lot less for the 725's. About 3 grand each there.

Lot more than I figured, better go see IF I can find that article and see what it really said...But it looks like paying 1,800.00 for mine was a steal. All it needed was batteries and filter changes to run like a top. No wonder I like those trucks....

according to most sales stuff, including the Standard Catalog of Military Vehicles, an M-54 with a winch is worth a grand more, and one with a Mack diesel is also worth a grand more than one without. But thats the nice thing about this hobby, alot doesn't make sense, and nobody's "dumb"... just some people have more answers than others. I've got more than a few trucks, but being a tug captain, I know VERY little about them. Just LOVE collecting them, and my wife loves this hobby compared with the last. I owned my own tug, she could never find me. Now, she only has to look in the barn..... I'm our there learning....

The different prices for the same NSN is often multiple contracts awarded in different years. Like the price you pay for a gallon of gas today wasnt what you paid 4 months ago, or a year ago. But it's the same gallon of gas....
