how to test vacuum pump

I pulled one from an engine recently and tinkered with it. Its very obvious that its drawing a vacuum when you turn it over. Not sure if its adequate.... but its pulling for sure.

The pump needs to turn at engine idle rpm to test it, it should have 24 inches of vacuum at idle. There is only one bolt holding it in, no big deal to swap them out.

If your just testing them hold off untill you are sure that's the one you are going to use then some sealer I think would be fine, however if you have gasket material that would be better.
