I've recently come across a cheap cat 3116. I'm not sure if any one knows much about it But it's a 6.6l inline that's a hoss. I was trying to find something that would hold the heavy ass thing. Weighs 1500lbs so about twice as heavy as the 6.2 and 6.5. I was originally going to put it in a truck with a straight axle but I was wondering if the idependent up front could hold this thing. I figure it could but just wanted to make sure before I go looking to pick one up

The half shafts will not like it. The body will not fit without a 4+" body lift. And will still most likely require cutting the tunnel and/or 'firewall'. The 7.3ps doesnt quite fit without modification, nor does the cummins 6bt without a 2" body lift. A 4bt can slip right in.. Better save that cat for a solid axle truck.

Gotcha. Ya I think a 4bt would be good enough. Same weight as the 6.2, easy to get more power and easy to find parts. What about the military blazers? They have solid axles don't they? I can find more of those for cheap too

Murphys law states the 4bt is the most expensive option. The 6bt with a small lift is a very common swap. The older engines dont require an ecu and can be ran with no computer. The later 6bts need a harness, computer, and unless you get the p pump, you will be wishing you have a little more power. Definitely hook up od first, swap the trans for a 4l80e. Even with stock motor you will get another 15+ mphs from her
