Humvee service in Maryland

Hey all. I just purchased my first Humvee and live in Maryland, outside of DC. I am looking for a place to have it serviced/repaired. I have had a few leads but all were a dead end. Really need a place with some experience. Thanks for the help.

Hi, I’m also a new owner. I had a lot of “rejections” when I called many different mechanics, asking to have mine “state inspected”
Finally, today, I took mine to a place, and they inspected it (I now need to work on the “6 digits” VIN issue, I’m trying to get a “standard” registration, not historic)

Welcome to the madness... I mean to the group. I am in Northern VA and not a lot of local places want to work on these old war horses. Most of us do our own maintenance and upgrading (the HOA LOVES me). Strongly recommend getting a copy of the manuals, the parts books and get acquainted to your vehicle. All on this site are helpful, some bark louder than others, but ALL are helpful.

Jeff Symansky at Commercial Tool and Die in Marshall VA does good work and is very familiar with MVs. If that's not too far for you. He did my turbo drivetrain swap. He has a yard full of 5-tons and Deuces, a HMMWV, and many Jeeps offsite. I watched him restore an antique military Jeep while checking up on my HMMWV work over the Fall. I'm near Annapolis. I am by no means an expert but I've run through most of the basic PMCS on the M998 and I have lots of large tools since I also own a 5-ton. I've repacked CV axles, purged and flushed my coolant system, run through the Lubrication Order, serviced the portal hubs, stuff like that.

If you need help or have questions or need to borrow a tool for a short period of time, PM me here on the forum.

Good point Ajax. Yes, we should be doing most of the work, since that's the kind of vehicle it is (non-standard, no dealer support). I figured he was looking for someone to help on BIG stuff, like I did in seeking a professional to do a powertrain swap.

I would help with a like-for-like power train replacement but I'd be in over my head doing a Duramax conversion or other such nonsense.
I'm a computer network engineer. You need RetiredWarhorses or someone for that business.

I did (and do) all my maintenance (so far, thanks God, crossing my fingers, I hope I don’t jinx it... otherwise will be your fault 😂😂, nothing major)
Purged coolant system, drained and refilled oil in Hubs, differentials, engine, ETC
all kind of lights, trays, whatever can be nut-riveted, ETC, Converted it from 2 doors to 4 doors, seatbealts, and the list goes on and on.

it was difficult to find a shop willing to do a MD inspection, because, as you may know from other of my posts, I’m trying to get a “regular” registration... (I’ll keep you all posted...)

I am in Annapolis as well. Have you replaced your ball joints yet? Trying to find a shop close by that may do it. Thanks
