Humvee Suspension Overhaul Kits

So I've seen a couple different companies that are making "smart suspension" or the likes that smooths out the ride and gives greater wheel travel and all.

While that does sound so appealing, I feel like they are leaving out the fact that they take the already top heavy up armored humvees and raise them up even more. All the while somehow managing to reduce the ground clearance.
The electronic ones seem to not have these compromises, but require a new harness, controller, sensor, and hydraulic system (doesn't matter for us civis as much, but in the field it may not be all that good?)

For the upgrade kits without electronics, are they simply giving more wheel travel and then reducing the stiffness of the springs?

Has anyone deviated from the stock suspension and gone with something that maintains the durability of the system while smoothing out the ride?
For me, a softer smooth suspension is not a good trade for ground clearance and low center of gravity.
