I just purchased a MEP005A with no power output

I purchased this MEP005A from an auction (stated no power out). The unit has 1100 hrs on it and looks very clean. The unit starts right up and sounds great, but no power out. Upon inspection, I see two wiring connectors laying unconnected where some electrical component may have been. The missing piece was located at the rear/right/upper (non-drivers side if hooked behind a vehicle). Anyone know what the missing unit may be?

I've looked at many diagrams and maybe "Special Relay Unit" fits the bill??

Anyone have a suggestion as to where to start in determining the problem.

Anyone have a good schematic for the MEP005??

Manuals are available top of forum lists. The generator won't work unless all parts are present and accounted for.

I have worked on motor driven welder units with brushes which had no output from a corrosion film of the commutator surface. They used to sell a cleaner abrasive stick or you use very fine white or tan natural sand paper to lightly clean the brushes and commutator contacts. Do not use silicon carbide sand paper on the commutator surface as it leaves a film. This is according to a old timer welder repairman who worked at our local Lincoln Welder dealer for years. From what he is describing I am 99 % sure that is what is missing. Probably had a bad VR board and they pulled it and then DRMO the machine. I had one that just had VR board removed from the box but the transformer and such were still present. Just ended up getting an entire replacement box for the unit fixed the problem. As I recall however think it was about a 600 dollar part. I heavily considered changing over to a modern voltage regulator for a fraction of the cost however I wanted to keep the set original so I opted for the replacment. I would say this thread is useless however without any pictures. Perhaps the OP could take some pictures of what they are talking about.
