Hey all,
I just realized that I never introduced myself when I joined 2 years ago. Anyhow, here it goes.
My name is Joey, I am 20 years old and I am currently in my second year as a midshipman pursing an aerospace engineering degree at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD.
I am from Gilbert Arizona originally and my grandfather Jerry (Papa) and I got involved in military vehicles while I was in high school. Papa worked for 30 years as a general semi truck mechanic/ heavy machinery mechanic/ equipment operator/ semi truck transport driver, and now fixes up old tractors for fun in the beautiful city of Globe, Arizona.
He and I originally built a 1929 model A street rod together (which the build log can be seen at http://my29project.blogspot.com/ ), but once we bought our first M35A2, we both realized that we had more fun with military vehicles.
Last year, we finally sold the hot rod and the M35A2 so that we would have the funds available to start our current project, a bobbed dual cab M35A3. The project is almost complete, and once it is, I will post a full build log for it.
I would not be who I am without my grandfather. He has taught me most of what I know about life and tinkering, and is the reason why I joined the military and wanted to pursue an engineering degree in the first place.
Since I am away most of the year in Maryland, I end up mainly just designing how I want the new truck to be, and Papa builds it.
Well, that is pretty much who we are! Just a couple of desert dogs having fun with some OD green (or tan in our case).
