IP Pump bad?

How can you tell when your injector pump is bad on a 6.2?
Truck is hard to start, but once running if ok.
New glow plugs added.
Help.

If it is hard to "hot" start is a good sign it's bad or if the pump is leaking fuel. Usually cold hard starting is a slow starter, bad glow plugs or an air leak in the fuel system. Check out a GM tech sheet in the resouce section unter the tm's, it explains cold start problems for 6.2's. If it runs/idles well once started and no fuel is leaking from the sides of the pump it is probably ok.
