Is Membership closed?

I have a few friends that bought deuces after they saw mine, but all have told me that when they try to join the site it won't let them and says that membership is closed to new members. What gives? why ?

If i remember correctly it was due to a person constantly getting banned then re-registering under a new name. I could be wrong but I do have the notification from the SS site about new members banned for now.
