Is the bolt pattern on a military pintle the same as a civi?

Is the bolt pattern on a military pintle the same as a civilian? Also does the military pintle like the one in the link below allow the pintle to move side to side so it does not bind in off road conditions?

I know I would have to machine a hole in the center and it would have to be down from the hitch tube.

I could not access the ebay link you put up, but why cut into the adjustable hitch? Why not use one that was meant for it? There are lots of strong, 4 bolt hole pintles.

I purchased one of the adjustable mounting plates and fixed pintles from a fellow SS member and used it today for towing a M101A2. It worked great. How aggressive do you plan to be off road? I think you have to do some serious wheeling to cause a problem.

The read in other post on this site about problems with bending things when you are offroading fixed pintles. I was thinking the one on ebay item #290126692621 looks like it is design to pivot when it needs to and thought this might be a good thing.

It sounds as if you are trying to combine the advantage of the swiveling pintle hook (for greater articulation off road) with the ease and convenience of a quick change out receiver type hitch.
You could just do like I did: with the pintle hook permanently mounted to your bumper, (came that way originally from the Army) procede to attach a receiver below your bumper for your civy towing duty. I think it would be difficult and clumsy to try to mount a swiveling pintle to a removable receiver type hitch. I'd just mount the swiveling type pintle permanently to the bumper. P.S. yes it looks like the Ebay pintle hook is the swiveling type, with most of the parts you would need to mount it to your truck. You may however have to fabricate a reinforcing plate to go on your bumper if that is the direction you decide to go.

If you don't have to have the swiveling pintle feature, then I'm sure you could go with one of the fixed setups posted here for a removable receiver hitch.
