I had to have my m923 towed due to throwing off a water pump belt on a narrow long interstate bridge.

I am attempting to reinstall the drive shaft from transfer case to forward rear axle propeller shaft.

I am using tm 9-2320-272-24-1, Para 3-150, pg 3-417

I am having trouble sliding shaft #7 (I would call it the yoke) to shaft #9 ( splined drive half shaft?)

I see an alignment arrow on yoke #7 but no markings on splined shaft #9 and driver did not mark or paint when he dis-assembled

Is there an alignment grove on one of the splines as I have tried sliding them together into each other and can only seem to get them 1/8 of an inch into each other? How do I identify it?

Thanks for all your help with a newbie on a 5 ton driveshaft!

Make sure the u-joints are perfectly "in phase" and the splines should engage. "In phase" means both u-joint crosses are pointing the same ways if viewed from the end of the shaft. Also look for nicks on the splines, that will prevent engagement.
