Issue with Dual Voltage Alternator

Installed the dual voltage alternator and when I get on the gas (after startup and glow plugs cycling) the voltmeter pegs in the red then back to green every couple of seconds. I checked with a multimeter and I am getting anywhere between 24-30V on the 24V output and 12-15 on the 14V output. I have the supplemental ground kit installed and the alternator is grounded via the grounding strap. It doesn’t seem to be causing any issue yet but concerned it will, is this a bad regulator?
