A few weeks ago i asked what this truck was, here are the pics off the data plates.
this is what i do know:
its a non-turbo diesel
was not overhauled
it was a fuel service truck
modified to carry water
used by USAF

plans are to part it out, everything leaks except coolant and water tank, will put up on classified ads when i do.

The plate says M35A2C but its been modified by the fire department or air force, as you said, with a tank which looks to be welded directly to the bed. If it was designed to haul water it would have a data plate saying M50, M50A1, or M50A2. Neat deuce. I bet her white paint gets dirty quick with no turbo! :D

It does indeed have the C style bed.

Hinges on both side and the rear are only on C beds.

They may have the removable sides and tailgate too if you poke around.

The cab and bed is a M35 but whether it has a turbo or not sort of has to do with when it was rebuilt and all that. The truck looks decent. I am sure you can probably replace the bed with a good take off cheaper than you can remove the tank and clean up the welds and find all the parts and pieces that are missing.

after reading your responses, i see that it is an original bed with a water tank installed on top of it, the rails are long gone since this was the 3rd or 4Th fire department to own it. I'm glad i didn't live in the town this truck was serving. your house would be long gone by the time this truck got there.
here are a few more pics of the interior

Looks to be a very early USMC dropside. Marines were the first to have the dropside bed. Bit of a shame to part it out.

yes its a battery cut off switch, to start it you must switch three things, the auxiliary power (now a key) the big "goofy" switch and another that is for the after market lights on the tank. as for a response on parting it out is this: i want the front leaf springs for a bobber, (saving me $600) selling the front and a rear axles for a toyota project (not mine). cab i need for another deuce with rust issues but everything else is in good shape. the motor, tranny... etc. is leaking so bad they need work. time and money that i have little of. since i have $1300 into the truck, so i will make out well in the end. hopefully. if anyone has a better idea, im always open to suggestions.
