LD465 mods?

Is there any performance mods or tips for a turbo diesel? I'm not very familiar with these motors.I'm new to the diesel genre. Though I'm impressed with my M35, so far. I was out mudding with mine this weekend and I am pleased.

Yes there are lots of things that can be done to the LDT-465. some as simple as tune ups other more excotic like water injection and twin turbos. Anything that can be done any other mechanicaly injected diesel can be done on the LDT.
I would probably start by removing all the injectors and having them checked out. the military is know to swap out LDT and LDS injectors. they just use what is handy and will get them on the road (part of a M.A.N. system er somethin) they are 1 or 2 hole injectors. even though they both RUN the timing is slightly differnt due to hole and spring pressures.. once you know you got all 2 hole or 1 holers set the pump timing, some times a GI will be rushed and not get it timed acurately. if that all goes well get yoursef a pyrometer PRE-turbo and start cranking up the pump (this is were you test yourself) too far and POOF she's junk. or you could go buy a universal propane asist kit and slap that on there. maybe go read somthing on the net and make your own....man i could go on for days but i hope i gave you a few ideas to get you thinkin....its an empty slate and you got the paint.

This is my other creation, notice the duece rears, 11.00x20s, my first experience with duece axles. I must say I am happy with the completed truck.

wow thats cool, i like it. do you drive it on the road? i hope so, how the r's down the road. i bet u got a 700 with OD and the big tires prolly work good. youd never tear up the drive line with 672's at least not anything north of the axles. do the tires all follow in the same track? man i might have to do that to my 79 1 ton...16.00s maybe, hey thats what you need.

Thanks, this is PA inspected and I drive this to the mudbogs and out in the woods to the hidden mud holes! I have a TBI350 with small chamber heads, better cam, tweaked TBI, headers, dual 3" exhaust, Afterburners w/cats(due to PA emission garbage tests). SM465 transmission w/hydraulic Centerforce dual/friction clutch. NP205 t-case runs at 3100rpm at 60MPH. My buddy calls it a tractor cause it yanked his 6000lb Suburban, on 39.5" Swampers, out of mud hole, after he got stuck, with no problems. My other buddies Blazer on 44" Boggers was stuck in a mudhole and someone with a modified Jeep was trying to winch him out but couldn't. The Jeep was chained to me as an ancor and when his winch (9500lb Milemarker) couldn't pull out the Blazer I let the clutch out in low gear and pulled the Jeep and the big Blazer out together! That was pretty awesome and all my friends were impressed with my tractor!<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_headbanger.gif" alt="Headbanger"><img src="emoticons/icon_smile_headbanger.gif" alt="Headbanger">

Like those Firestone ND's on that. I have Rockwells under an M715 and had been running 1100x20 Goodyear Custom Xtra Grips on single style wheels. Have since gone to XML's and trimming. :) In PA also, south central.

Spicegear, you're not that far from me in Camp Hill. I have customers in Mechanicsburg so I get down in that area occasionally. These tires work well, no complaints. How well do those radials work? I'm in the market for XL14.00x20s for this 91GMC, now. Must go BIGGER!<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_headbanger.gif" alt="Headbanger">

1400's are big...like pop-goes-the-axle...Big, and heavy as hell. My XML's are 255Lbs mounted on 20" double beadlock wheels. My Wide carcass XL's 46x15x20 are 225Lbs per tire UNmounted. I'm still trimming the fenders and cab on the 715 for the XML's. I've done some work with the truck staying away from tight turns and was REALLY impressed with the traction. But, cut XML's, Rocks w/Detroits, and over 7,000Lbs does a lot for traction. Berwick huh? Other side of Lancaster? Not bad.
