Lines running to the Air-shift front axle engagement

One line appears to run from the air system "T" mounting under the dash. The other line appears to be a copper line running from a hole in the firewall.

I read in another thread that if you have a problem with gear oil venting through the lever, you should clean the transfer case vent and then disconnect one of the lines on the engagement lever to blow out any built up oil.

I cleaned and lubed the transfer case vent so it goes up and down and all around freely, now.

Which line do I disconnect, tho? The big air line coming from the "T" mounted underneath the dash or the copper line coming from the hole in the firewall?

Or both?

How does this system work, exactly? It *looks* like the lever is a kind of valve that when in the "out" position just blocks air from the air supply and in the "in" position directs air through that copper line running through the firewall down to the mechanism that engages the front axle. Which I suppose is why the line is copper. Am I correct in this thinking?

Disconnesct it under the truck where it goes into the t-case. That will clear the line when you flip the switch.

ok, that makes sense. Thanks for the advice.

Just turn it on, engage the lever, and watch the line until it stops blowing oil out, right?

I love the deuce and a half. Lots of little problems that teach me something new every time.

The line that comes from the "T" under the dash supplies air to the switch, when the switch is engaged, it feeds air underneath the dash to a hole in the firewall on the passenger side. It goes through this hole and down the engine compartment side of the firewall underneath the truck to a junction block where it is converted to a flexible line and into the xfer case.

Correct. Disconnect at the t-case and engage the lever to clear the line

ok, forgive the dumb question... so far as I can tell, there's two lines.

when facing the rear of the truck, one on the left and one on the right. The right one looks like what people in other threads are identifying as the speedometer gear/cable.

So by process of elimination, I need to disconnect the one on the left (passenger) side, correct?
