Locking fuel cap for M-1010

With the price of diesel now over $4 a gallon here in Tucson and the theft of both gas and diesel on the rise I decided to get a locking cap for my M-1010. After trying every auto supply in Tucson with no luck I would like to know if anyone else has a possible online source.

Should be a standard size since the CUCV's were basically civy vehicles modified for military use.

There may be an anti-siphon device in the filler neck......you may want to try to put an "Arkansas Credit Card" (piece of garden hose) down into the tank and see.

I'm looking at getting a locking cap for all my vehicles. After Soni's incident in Las Vegas, I won' be taking any chances...

You will have to switch to a new fuel filler neck. (A civi one because they are different).

I was working on some locomotives that were in storage. The railroad is putting them back in service and we found a garden hose and some trash bags in the fuel tank of one of them.

I should think one of the major auto parts chains would have a locking gas cap for it. Try JC Whitney or some other online parts place. I had a locking cap on my '88 E-250. Newer vehicles usually can't use them because the caps are made differently. I'd like to have one for my 2008 E-150 but they made it "better" than the older vans.

Some gas theives will poke a hole in the tank. Some locking caps can be popped off with a screwdriver. These crimes need more jail time.

The filler necks are diff I don't think anyone makes one maybe put a lock on the door of the fuel neck

Been full circle trying to put a locking fuel cap on my M1028. It just is not available because the military filler neck is larger to accept a tanker hose. Tried everything, it just isn't available.

I'm considering installing a lock on the fuel door. Thought about a simple cabinet-type lock, however this could easily be defeated with a crow bar. If I can come up with a solution I will post pics.

The problem is the OP (like myself) has a M1010. No door over the cap. It's just in a recess on the ambulance body.

For the M1010 you might be able to make a heavy duty locking door if you don't mind taking away a little from the stock appearance.
