Howdy all: Is the rear axle on the M1008 a Dana 60? Can anyone tell me what the torque on the Pinion shaft nut is? I have to change the seal, it is leaking profusely. Thanks Tom

One other tip I would make sure your vent line is clear. The end has a plastic cap make sure it wiggles around, the hose is clear, and the steel tube that enters the axle casting is clear. I have seen the vent where it enters the housing rust/plug completely shut and the pressure has to exit the axle somewhere - usually the weakest seal. Good luck.

There is no torque spec for pinion nuts. The preload spec for the pinion bearings tells you how tight to make things. To measure preload, you have to pull the pinion support out of the axle and tighten the pinion nut until you reach the desired preload by turning the pinion nut with an inch pound wrench.

In the driveway at night, just snug it down by hand with a decent sized 1/2 inch ratchet and locktite the nut.
