m1008 wont start in cold weather

it should start with no problem at 40* sounds like glow plug problem. And yes you can get a freeze plug block heater for about 30 bucks from any auto parts store.

There is or should be a freeze plug block heater in truck already. Look for the grounded 120v plug. sometimes they are tucked away pretty well . Look for plug on driver's side block under exaust manifold. If it is not working an after market one installed in heater hose will get you though the winter.

Should start at 40 d if your glow plugs are all working right.

I got my truck to start at 28 degrees with no plugs once time....I didn't know they didn't work at the time. I have since put in a manual push-button to solve that problem, helps a lot on "warm" starts too when it's on that fine line between needing the plugs or not.

Not all CUCV's got the block heaters. Wasn't original, just something some units in cold areas added.




I do agree with everyone, sounds like a glow plug problem. Mine was REALLY bad last winter and after two new batteries and a set of Wellman glowplugs the thing turns right over no matter what.
