I was looking at the wiring diagram in the TM, and then also looking at the CUCV Article and in the article it says if you need to convert to a 12 volt starter that the wire under the dash needs to have the purple w/white connected to the red wire. Why? Shouldn't it be the purple w/white to the purple wire?

I'm no electrical engineer but thats the way it looks to me.

If you convert to 12 volt you can leave as is and not change anything if you like after you convert to 12 volt then the red wire is 12 volt not 24 so the relay will work as should anyways but some like to remove it. One less itam to fail!

:ditto: Done that to a couple CUCV's. To install a 12V starter just move the main power wire to the starter off the firewall junction block and move it to the first battery. You can leave the rest of it alone, or bypass the relay. Me myself and I would do the "Doghead relay swap" and just move the main wire.
