Not meaning to ask a stupid question, but WHAT are you attempting to put a dimmer switch in?

The only interior light SHOULD be attached to the light switch. IT HAS A DIMMER SWITCH BUILT IN.

So if your dash lights and your interior light don't dim, your switch is probably either dirty or bad.

How do I put a dimmer switch in?
Very carefully..............................couldn't resist.

The Tech manual covers it install of the headlight dimmer switch.

You will have to put the steering wheel, drop the column, fishout the old switch and wires, make sure you attach a pull wire before you remove it, pull the new one into place, hook everything back up.

I did this about a month ago. The switch was around $20 and it took a couple of hours.

It also covers the headlight switch with the dashlight dimmer.

You have to push the release button on top of the switch to remove the knob.

The new one has instructions. It takes about 5 minutes.

At the risk of sound stupid...

There's a headlight dimmer switch? I know about the headlight on/off switch with dash dimmer....

Which vehicle is the headlight dimmer found in?

You really need to download the TM 9-2320-289-10 Operators manual.

The CUCVs are just like any GM vehicle. The dimmer is the trun signal switch.

The actual switch is the cam gear inside the steering colunm.

Now I feel like a jackass! aua

That's what I have always called a "high-beam switch"....

I saw a reference to a "dimmer switch" and was thinking maybe it was something else...

Thanks for the sanity check....I've already read the -10.
