M1009 question

I am under the impression that the M1009 is a 3/4 ton version of the K5 blazer, is this true? I have heard that the M1009 is just a K5 with 8 lug hubs, I am sure someone here can easily give me the true answer. Thanks

Its a half ton blazer (6 lugs wheels) with an extra leaf in the front springs. The military calls it a 3/4 ton though.
