I am a new owner of an 85 m1009 and am having issues with the trans shifting at very high rpms only. 35MPH and 55 MPH. Any suggestions as to why?

Messing with the VRV fixed my late shift problem that developed a couple of days after I got my M1009. I took the VRV off the truck worked the cam and follower a bit then blasted it with PB Blaster. After blowing it out, I put it back on and now it shifts fine.
There are a bunch of posts related to this issue. Do an Advanced search in the CUCV forum with keywords "shift problem". More info than you'll care to read.

edit: The blast of PB was through the vacumm line openings.
