M1010 parts

Does anyone know where there is an M1010 Ambulance being parted out? I am specifically looking for the air conditioning and dual alternator brackets from the front of the engine. I am going to try to add AC to my 1009 and I think this would be the easiest way to go about it.

I would prefer all of the brackets and the AC compressor if possible, but the brackets themselves will be sufficient.

I would not say that is the easiest way to go about it. Those alternators are 24V and are totally different from the regular stuff. You would essentially need to swap wiring harnesses to have the proper circuitry. They are harder to find (more expensive, generally) than the standard CUCV alternators too.

You're almost better off converting to 12V and running civilian brackets and a single alternator.

Cucvfan is right. I put a/c in mine and thats the way I did it. One word of caution cutting the dash for the vents is a pain in the a--. The vent holes in mine were covered with plates that had to be cut out. The easier way to go is under dash mount. There is a unit made for pickups/blazers. Made by vintage air the whole kit,everything, is around $600. If interested I will send you the web site tomorrow I am out of town and I have the address on my other computer

Well, my plan wasn't to go with the 200A alternator system, it was to mount the regular alternators in the 200A mounts.

I can get all the dash side AC stuff done, that's not a problem. It's the brackets on the engine that are concerning me because there just aren't any around here that I can find with all the brackets intact.

The alternators are significantly different in their dimensions. That won't end up just being a bolt-on mod...

You might be able to run the M1010 alternators in "low", but I cannot remember the output of them on that setting, but I think it is around 14.4V. I'm not so sure it's recommended, but it might work with the factory wiring moved around to handle a 12V environment.

look on ODiron's site, he has a bolt on kit, that lets you keep your stock alternator setup. its a complete kit.

So check this out. I looked up the alt. in the 24P man. and did some digging it turns out that it is a Leece Neville unit that is " a private lable", code for govt. contract. but were this is an old contract you maybe able to get one thru a dealer/ outlet i have included the url to the web page i found.
