Just recently purchased this M1028 that came from a govt auction.

I was curious why the govt would space out the front bumper like this? Maybe for a plow but I see no signs of any old plow brackets looking at the frame and bolt holes or any wires or holes through the firewall. The truck is TOTALLY rust free too. The cab corners and front fender liners are perfect. Most plow trucks usually have some rust.

Has anyone seen this before on any of the trucks?

Interesting. Is it really only attached at the end bolts?

The star in the middle of the Chevy emblem is amusing, never seen that before either. :)

Cheers

Nice truck man
Thanks! So cool getting these trucks directly from the govt. This one only has 14k miles and feels like it. Seat is perfect shape, brake pedal not worn on right.

Yeah they must have been stencil happy that day. The front bumper looks to be from another truck since it has a different number on it but yes nothing in the middle for support and my shackle tubes and D-rings are missing. The paint and letter stencils are all govt done. I just got the truck. I just ordered a CUCV brush guard from HBW. I still need to find the front shackle square tubes or whatever you call those and the shackles.
