I thought I posted about this before, but all my searching has been unsuccessful.
(Note, this event happened in 2014)
My M105A2 trailer came with a spare front/rear rack. I thought the external side storage pockets were nifty. The rack is seen here, hours before, stored on the driver's side.
I didn't think anything of it, and thought the spring tabs would keep it in place, until I hit some hard bumps on the way home that day and the rear leg of the stored rack came out and I drug the rack on the interstate for two miles, until a good Samaritan flagged me from his car and somehow managed to yell over the noise that I was dragging (I can't see the M105 trailer, besides the left lug nuts, when my M35A2 has its cargo cover on).
As penance for God's great blessings that the whole rack wasn't dropped on the interstate as a hazard to other motorists I repaired the spare rack, at no small cost and effort.
I purchased replacement ends, sand blast, fixed some broken welds, and powder coat.
This time I'm storing the track on the passenger side and I've secured it to the trailer with a pair of ratchet straps. I'm determined to never have that happen again and be more cognizant of any and everything I haul. I don't need to leave the rack on the trailer at all, but it keeps it out of my way in the garage or shed and with the only piece of equipment that it is usable with.
