I have a M1078 and currently it has trashed two alternators in the form of the first one breaking the upper front mounting ear off, and the second being it broke the two hinge brackets and then the top bracket. first question is WHY! they were both mounted back like the original and were tight. the first time was because the tensioner bracket came loose and allowed the belts to flop.
i am in need of the bracket that goes behind the belt tensioner. is it available somewhere? the small bracket that holds the pulleys is fine but i need the one that goes behind it. also is there a serpentine belt conversion? i see there's a 200 amp kit but i do not need that i just need them to stop breaking. the brackets that hold the alternator are fine, no cracks or breaks or loose bolts. I also read somewhere there is supposed to be a twisted piece of steel bracket from the ALT to the exhaust manifold? is that correct? would that solve my breaking alternator cores? i just need the fix it solution so that it will run more than 100 miles before it breaks hopefully never breaking again. any help would be appreciated!!!
Thanks
