M1101 Tail Gate Fastener Points

On my tailgate I have two rows of fasteners and wondering what they were used for.

Not normal, looks like it could have been an accessory that was removed

My first thought was signage … doesn’t look to be load bearing.

Is there a bunch of extra holes in the bed of the trailer?

No … just normal tie down points

Better rivets than open rusting holes, but aluminum oxidises, not rusts. I would leave them alone!

Flat headed rivets

Mine is the same way. I am guessing that those are for structural integrity of the tailgate as it is two pieces , not including the top and bottom caps.

Mine is a 2006 M1101....same rivets.
