Hi all

At the beginning of next month I have the massive task of repainting my M35, a previous owner covered her in olive drab paint without sanding the older paint first, I’ve started removing the top coat of paint where it’s flaked off and can see no sign of prep work previous, could I sand down the under layer and apply the CARC paint on top? I’m a newbie to carc paint so want to ask for expert advice,

Many thanks

Random thoughts: A hot water pressure washer will help remove poorly applied paint. Are you going back to a Viet Nam impression? If so CARC is the wrong color and texture.
Most of us over here are abandoning expensive CARC and going with water based acrylics.

To add to this, get a concrete bit for the pressure washer. My M715 had a poor coat of paint on it and not only did the concrete bit remove the old paint, but rust flakes etc too.

After the concrete bit:

And as far as paint goes, have you considered using house paint? Much easier and cost effective to apply (I use an airless sprayer from Lowes and Sherwin-Williams ultra flat) and it give the correct patina of CARC.

Granted mine is black, but you can see how it came out.
