M35a2 Bed Roll Cage Extenders

I'm thinking about extending the height of the rails so I can walk freely in the bed without being crunched over. I would also like to put taller palletized items in the back without it being such a tight fit. The height of it from the floor to roll cage is 5ft, I would like to extend it to 6'2ft. Has anyone ever done it before? I would like to get some ideas before I tackle on this project or is there some built rails that I can use instead?

The mess section crew used to have raised tarps on their trucks with the sides raised from the bows up. Some shop/parts trucks also with plywood rear doors.
