I have installed several Pertronix units in a variety of applications.(not MV's though) They are a nice improvement from points. I did not know that covered the M37 application.

If you get points, stay away from any off shore ones, either china or mexico. A friends M37 ran into problems with these and we found that their points allow side to side play on the shaft that they piviot on. This eventually will cause the points to ground out or create enough heat to melt the little plastic piece the point rides on the dist. shaft and the gap to become off...................had big time problems at a rally with it one weekend, changed out the cheap points, problem solved

Any performance change on the M37 with the Pertronix solid state ignition kit? I put one on my '50 Ford tractor and got quite a torque boost and quicker starting...

Make sure its getting gas. Manual pump the original with the line disconnected at the carb. When they set a long time the vaccuum assist on the bottom end of the fuel pump fails & can pump oil.

My gas tank is a 2.5 gallon red plastic thing lashed to the front bumper. Thank goodness for the winch and the extended bumper!
