Tackled reupholstering the wrecker cab and crane cockpit seats. The crane control cockpit didn't have any cushions but I could make out the shape from stains on the paint. The cab had frames but needed reupholstery.
I fabricated the seat bottoms from 3/4" plywood. Primed and painted. I replaced the hardware with stainless. Instead of foam, I used layers of carpet padding. It is denser than foam, cheaper and should hold up better. When attaching the covers, I used furniture tacks instead of staples. I feel they will hold up better. Overall I'm happy with the results. Many thanks to Jtanka for very nice reproduction wrecker cockpit covers.
Now I can focus on the cab interior and repaint as needed.
