The majority of the members here have probably never seen a M810. Before we bought that one, I am not sure I had ever seen one before either. The only way I found it was that I knew it was an 809 series truck. It had a M820A2 data plate, which I knew was wrong and it was listed as a M35A3, which I knew was wrong. I bid it purely for iron price, had no idea what I was buying. Once we got it picked up and hauled home, I started searching to see what it was. I even posted a just for fun thread about the truck.

I thought it was a boxed M813 with the wrong data plate. When we got it home though, it was way too short to be a M813, it was about M818 length, but has no sign of ever having the trailer air equipment in it.

I started searching M815, skipping M813, M814, M816, M817 and M820 as I already knew what they were. When the search results did not match, I went back and started forward with M809, M810... That is when I found the five ton in the water and the short wheelbase description. I think it is an 810 as there is 810 stamped in the frame rail close to the VIN. It is definitely unusual and you probably will not find many, if any, members who have done something with theirs.

During my M810 search, I did find new data plates for a M810 W/W, which this one is not, at TJ Murray's.

ID PLATE CHASSIS M810 W/W | DATA PLATES | Military Vehicles For Sale | Military Trucks For Sale | M35 A2 | 5 Ton | M151 A1 A2 | Surplus Parts - TNJ Murray

I was really tempted to use that chassis for my long desired short wheelbase 5ton with deuce or even shortened deuce bed. I just have too much going on right now to take on that project too. It would be sweet to have an ultra rare chassis like that as a conversation piece. It is listed as a short five ton chassis, frequently used to put box beds on, which is what we stumbled into here.

It appears to have been painted light blue sometime in its life and I suspect it was navy at one time. How it ended up being sand colored in the middle of Kansas on a GL lot, I will never know. Maybe Carnac can chase this one down. It would be worth the donation just to see how good he really is.

I am sure it also has some great history, it has that I have been there and done that look.... 8) Glen

M810 refers to a chassis-cab, you can put whatever bed/box/whatever the user wants on the back.

Cheers
