Ok, Ive been reading manuals working up to probaby buying this 882. Im slightly confused, do they have 3 12vbatteries or 2?

I ask because the truck I looked at, had one 12v battery on the driver side, and he said that 2 12v batteries went on the passenger side. (He removed them)

There is one 12v alternator running on the engine, and one 60amp 24v alternator that has its belt off not being used.

Is this correct or has he rigged it up some how?

the truck itself is completly 12v.
the extra 2 batteries on the passerger side and the 28v generator that is mounted where a civi powersteering would go (on the driver side) are for the Radios, the M882 is a radio truck.
Some units did attach a slave port to the 24v for jumping deuces.

That big battery tray on the passenger side is a great place for a tool box & misc spares.
I have one for my Ambulance and my M880 along with the one that came with my M884.

In case you haven't seen it yet, the M880 series trucks are virtually the same as a civi W200
and when you buy parts at the auto parts store you tell them it is a W200
3500lb front axle, the cooling system parts are the same as a W200 with air conditioning.

The biggest pain is finding 9.50R16.5 tires.
8.75R16.5 tires are too small they make the 318 really wind up on the highway.

Ok, well thats the electrical system that I saw.

What threw me is I looked in the -34 manual and saw the 60 amp system, it showed it tied into the ignition module and vehicle harness, I started to wonder if there was a 24-12 step down running the truck.
So there are 3 batteries. This truck has the slave plug.

Tires, Im confused by your reference to the 9.5 R16.5. What size would this be, like a 31x10.50 R15 I understand.
The truck has BFG all terain tires right now.
But that does seem like an odd size, is a different wheel compatible with the hub?

950R16.5 is what they came with.

they will take any standard 8 lug with a 4 7/8" center hole

older chevys had only 4 3/4"
and 99 & up Fords are metric.

Very close to a 31 -10.50
15 inch rims will likely rub on the front calipers.

16" 8 lug steels from an 80's Ford or Dodge will fit without any problems. 235/85R16 or 245/75R16 are the closest you can get to the old 9.5R16.5

There are also still manufacturers who make the 9.5R16.5:
Firestone Transforce HT
Cooper SRMII
Sigma Stampede AS
Dayton Timberline AT

Alfa Heaven also has used sets of 9.50R16.5s for sale as well.

I converted mine over a few years back, I Got 4, 8 lug rims from a 80's Dodge van for $100 bucks and run Goodyear 265 / 75 / R16 on them.
