M923A1 Allison Hard downshift into 1st

Carlo is that Modulator something that requires a
rocket scientist to breakdown, clean and rebuild or is it
pretty straight forward and could a guy w/ average
mechanical skills be able to tackle it w/o issue?

Are you having the same hard shift issue? What oil are you using in the trans? You will see a big difference using Dex3 over the 10w military oil. Plus ck the adjustment on the cable that works with pump. This cable goes down to the trans and changes the shift points. I leave mine slack. I dont like high RPM at shift points but most people do.
Modulator. I removed it and sprayed brake cleaner and re installed. The sending unit on the oil presure also for when I got the 923A2 it had low pressure. I cleaned the sending unit and it went up 15 pounds.

I drove these trucks in the army and every one had a hard downshift. This is normal. If its not broke don't fix it. Just remember your not driving a f-150. Hope this helps.
