M931A1 5 ton truck tractor – first steps to road worthy?

First military truck, now what? I just purchased a AM General M931A1 5 ton truck tractor from an auction and wanted to know any tips of what to check or change before attempting to use around the ranch and some highway use. Appears to be restored in 2008 at the Red River Depot and only 4.5 hours on the engine since. 11k miles on odometer. Thoughts on where to start on getting it road worthy and reliable?

Also, anyone in the DFW area that I might get to take a look at the truck before driving to ranch in central TX?

If you want to use it for highway use, you will need to pass a DOT inspection, and to make lights comply with DOT requirements. For example, the front top clearance and identification lights. I am in the process of doing same on my M927.
