I have a '92 (mfd 12/91, says '93 on the title) M998 HMMWV and among the things that are toast is the heater motor.
I've found three separate numbers.
6105012116635 30266 figure 333 of the P-1 manual.
6105014635260 30042 is the NEW (marked with *) model.
I haven't taken the motor out yet. Hooked it up to a 12v battery, no motion. Likely needs replacing.
I checked online at the usual places for a replacement and I'm finding THIS: ebay listing # 131503689144
On the motor it says 12348210, but he's listing it as 30042. Easternsurplus has this part listed and says this it "Fits M939, 5 Ton, M35A#, M35A2"
Are the motors interchangeable? I have three part numbers: 30266 (old) , 30042 (new), now 12342810 (newer than new)?
Or maybe I'm reading the manual wrong. Is the part marked with an asterisk NEW, or the part that's being replaced.
I have the two parts manuals from the TMs here (TM 209-2320-280-24P-1 and P-2) last update shown is March 2001. Was there another update somewhere not listed here?
"TM 9-2320-280-24P-2, 30 March 2001, is changed as follows:
- Remove old pages and insert new pages as indicated below.
- New or changed material is indicated by a vertical bar in the margin of the page and an asterisk (*)
In the TM I downloaded here there's no vertical bar and, if the asterisk is next to the CHANGED item number, does the (*) indicate the OLD part which is being changed, or the NEW part which HAS been changed?
This isn't a pedantic, academic question. My undergrad second major was in literature. I'm far from functionally illiterate. I was also responsible in another lifetime (1980s) for filing/organizing my unit's TMs, FMs, ARs, etc. (it's where I found out I could apply for an obscure Vietnam-era college fund for enlisted men I forget the name of now and STILL collect the Montgomery GI bill - and did- also collecting reserve pay) and I'm used to military-speak, backwards speaking, odd/stilted terminology while written - ostensibly - on an 8th grade level still far beyond mere mortals' ken. 21 years active with 5 more civil service doesn't help a bit here.
Can someone who's been around, or sells the things, please enlighten me?
I'm going to get that thing out this afternoon (when it heats up to 40 degrees or more) and see what markings are on it, meanwhile, this is a simple question, one I've posted elsewhere and with so many failures listed and troubleshooting the things, you'd think SOMEONE would know the answer to this question.
Thanks in advance.
