The Staff of the Sam Bell Maxey House State Historic Site invites you to attend an event here on Saturday, May 17th, 2008 titled "TO Defend and Protect" honoring all veterans who served from the Mexican War up to Operation Iraqi Freedom. We will be offering tours of the 1868 Italianate frame General Sam Bell Maxey House State Historic Site from 0930 untill 1600 (4:00PM CDT), and the Red River Valley Chapter of the Military Vehicle Preservation Association will be coming in at 1100 (11:00 AM CDT) approximately) and will have their WWII to today vehicles and displays set up untill 1600 (4:00PM CDT). The RRVMVPA folks may have some of the vehicles stay over for a shorter display on Sunday.
The ambulatory Veterans from the Sam Rayburn Memorial Hospital and VA Center in Bonham, TX will be visiting and possibly participating in the events. We are also setting up a display remembering Camp Maxey Training Center near Paris, TX, which trained 300,000 GI's during WWII and still serves as a Texas Army National Guard Training Facility.
There's much to see and do in Historic Paris, Texas, So come on by with your military or civillian vehicles and visit. Extra parking for MV's is within a two block promenade up Church Street from Sam Bass's Tires, so don't be shy..... You won't regret the good times...
Thanks Again,
Sincerely,
Kyle F. McGrogan, Curator
