MEP-002A Help!! Not smelling so good!

I have a MEP-002A generator that quit today after several hours
running 3-phase. It is used to power a test bench with a computer.

While running full load the meter shows about 75%. This is not constant....
testing runs 2 - 3 minuets then move to the next test.

After losing power I went out and shut down the genset. There is a
strong electrical smell .... burnt wires, transformer? This is out of
my league.

I don't have the time or knowledge to troubleshoot or repair. :cookoo:
So..... can any one offer help? Location in 30 mins west of I75 in central KY.

Thanks, Bob

I can't help directly, but while it still stinks, smell the various compartments and the generator itself, one at a time, and see if you can determine which one smells worst. Then use a flashlight to try to locate compent(s) that look like they overheated. Doing this immediately after the failure, you can often find a hot component, but if might be too late for that.

I was once able to repair a communications radio by having my mother, who had an above average sense of smell, sniff around the circuit board and point me to the area that had the odor. I quickly found a couple burned parts caused by a stuck relay, and had the radio fixed a short time later.
