Hello Everyone
my mep-003a is putting out black smoke on the front exhaust pipe.
Any suggestion on where i would start? compression check, leaky injector?
Thanks

Also, is it running smoothly? You never want to idle an MEP003A and it should be shut down at normal operating RPM for 60 Hz, but try reducing the RPMs for a slow idle for a few seconds and see if it is running evenly.

Black smoke on a diesel is often related to not enough air. I assume that you have checked for an obstruction on the intake side.

I suspect it had been ran with a light load for a long time and had some carbon buildup and wet stacking that needed to be burned off.
