I was wondering if anybody knew where I could possible find a mep-016a genset head I've got a 021a genset that I aquired from a friend of mine and I'm just now getting around to getting it running. I have been doing some research on the genset and found that the head that's on it will not work for what I want the gen for, as it's 400 hz and would like to just replace the head so as to get me a running genny for use as a back up incase of power outages.

saturn surplus has lots of new and used parts for your gen. your probably going to need a control box too, complete with voltage regulator. parts are heavy to. might not be economically feasable to refit.

If it is the same as the MEP-016b the 60 hz and 400 hz versions both use the same voltage regulator, however there are some jumper wires that need to be changed on the regulator board for correct operation at the desired frequincy , this is covered in the depot level service manual.

Would anyone on here have the depot manual to where I could possibly change it over to run on 60hz so that it will be more than a 300# paper weight.:) I have the 021a but I'm looking for a 016a 60hz

I have an extra, good 3kW gen head from a 016. Valley, AL is far from BR, LA, though.
I have a spare control box, too, with most if not all the innards, minus the VR.
You ever come to LA?

Well the wifey and I like to take road trips so we might be able to pick it up I'll discuss it with her tomorrow. You are talking baton rouge, la. I've never been but would love to come out but It would be after the first of the year before we could do anything. Trying to get me another truck since I lost my other one in a wreck a few months ago. It was not a mv but it was paid for.
