I recently bought a MEP-802a generator at an auction. It has been used for parts and I am trying to replace them. I have never worked on one before and I am trying to ascertain exactly what parts are missing. I've replaced the oil filter, master switch, emergency stop switch etc. but there appears to be a couple of parts missing from the water and fuel systems. I have attached a couple of pictures. If anyone can tell me what exactly is missing I would appreciate it.

Thank you.

Okay. Thank you very much. It is difficult to replace parts until you know what parts are needed. LOL
Any idea where those parts can be purchased or what I can substitute for the original part?

Yes. I downloaded them from this site. the wiring table was a tremendous help in replacing the switches. The wires had been snipped and I had no idea where each wire was supposed to go.

If you look up the part numbers and NSN's you can plug them into your search machine. Often finding what you want. I would start a parts needed thread, and list what you need. There are a few guys here in the forum that have extra stuff. If you need help, starting a thread, tell me. If you need help reading and understanding the TM's, say something. Army Speak is confusing if you never were in the Army.

Okay. Thank you. Where will I find the parts numbers for each piece?
For the 802A part lookup you'll want to use TM 9-6115-641-24P
Here are the parts for the Oil Pressure sender (item 7) area in that TM

The following page lists the part numbers

If you then search the TM for "02504" you'll find the NSN number 6620-01-128-3053

Then, if you go to www.Parttarget.com and search the NSN you'll get all the part numbers and manufacturers for the part.

This link is to all the TM's

LO 9-6115-641-12: This tells you the who, what, how much and where, as to servicing the generator.

TM 9-6115-641-10: This is the basic Operators Manual. This is a good book to read the first several chapters, and read or scan the rest. But it can answer LOTS of questions. Never guess. Know. The only way to know is to read.

TM 9-6115-641-24: This is the GENERATOR set, Maintenance Manual. Operator, Mechanic, and Direct Support Maintenance. When you want to troubleshoot, there is several different levels and you ALWAYS start at the lowest. When you want to know how to take something apart? That's where you go to find out how. Testing and adjusting is also there. When ever you want to fix something, its good to see what is in the TM. Read the passage at least twice. No, not every possible thing is in the TM. Or it would be the size of the Queen Mary. But it gets you started. If your stumped, ask questions.

TM 9-6115-641-24P: This is the part TM for the GENERATOR. It shows you the parts that are for the whole gen set, minus the ENGINE. Yes, there will be parts, like the ones Kurt showed you in the above posting, that are on the engine, but are in the Generator book. Why? Because this engine is used in other applications, and those application use different parts. So engine parts that are ONLY used on the MEP-802A are listed in the Gen set parts TM. I would tell you to scan through the -24P several times, to get the feel on how the parts are organized in the manual. Got questions? Ask, and someone will help you.

Now, lets see you find the S10 Dead Crank Switch. Post up what you find. @Jeepadict mentioned the S10 in the second post.

You guys have taken this project out of the 'work' category and put it into the 'enjoyable' category. I was slogging away at it, but it was going to be a longish project. Thanks for all of the help!
I'm sure that I will have more questions later, but this is a great start.
